One shoe
A shoe holds a door open. Someone asks whether it is staying.
The woman with one bare foot waited in the corridor. Her shoe held the door open while the caretaker checked the room.
“Is that staying?” he asked.
“No, that's mine.”
She took the shoe and the door shut between them.
He knocked. She opened it.
“Just a moment,” he said. “I haven't finished.”

A cut I did not keep: ending at “He knocked. She opened it.” made the scene feel like a completed joke. I kept his final line. He still has a room to check.
